The Okapi Fan Control System is designed to be used with a closed-loop solar air heater. It is programmed to detect warm air convecting upwards from within a closed-loop solar air heater and to then control the speed and direction of air-flow from within the building to be heated, through the solar air heater and back into the building. The Okapi Systems are specifically designed to pump air from the ceiling level of the room to be heated, into and through the solar air heater collector box and then pump it back out at floor level into the room to be heated. The optimal functionality of the Okapi Fan Control System cannot be guaranteed if used to pump hot air out at ceiling level (with the inlet at floor level) or if used with an open-loop solar air heater.
The Okapi Fan Control System is not designed for use in wet conditions, such as outdoor use or in rooms that may flood.
Any other uses of the Okapi Fan Control System, other than the ways described above and further in this manual, may result in poor functionality of the fans, create potentially dangerous situations or cause physical harm to people, animals, or objects.
This product is intended to be assembled by a qualified person. This product is not intended to be assembled or installed while mentally-impaired, or by children.
This product contains an AC/DC power adapter. Always use caution when plugging it into a power source.
A life-threatening electrical shock may occur if correct caution is not used when plugging or unplugging the Power Adapter or if the Power Adapter remains connected to a power supply while you are working with or adjusting any part of the Okapi Fan Control System. If you are uncertain how to plug in your power adapter correctly, consult an electrician. Always unplug the Power Adapter during assembly, installation or adjustment of the Okapi Fan Control System. If you choose to connect your Power Adapter to a power supply other than a standard 120V power electrical socket, such as connecting it to a battery-power source, you do so at your own risk.
Do not attempt to connect or disconnect the power adapter if conditions are wet (example: flooding in the building).
A life-threatening electrical shock or risk of fire is possible if the control box is opened and the circuit board is exposed. Do not open the control box.
This product contains very powerful fan(s). Serious bodily harm may occur if you or any object comes into contact with the spinning blades of the fan(s).
Do not under any circumstances insert a body-part or object into the fan while it is running. A fan-blade may break when it comes into contact with an object or the fan may break an object that it comes into contact with, resulting in dangerous projectiles.
Keep fan(s) away from children and animals. The fan(s) come equipped with a finger guard for protection.
Ensure this finger-guard remains on and secure at all times and is facing into the room to be heated once the fan is installed.
The temperature of the air the fan(s) blow into the room can exceed 120°F (49°C), depending on the functionality of your solar air heater collector box and weather/environmental conditions. This temperature is high enough to cause potential injury or damage to people, animals, plants or objects.
Always ensure there is a minimum of 4ft (1.2m) of space around the hot-air Outlet(s) for safe and adequate dispersal of the heated air into the room. Do not place any furniture, children’s furniture or toys, animal enclosures or toys, plants or any temperature-sensitive objects within 4ft (1.2m) of the hot-air Outlet(s).
Always ensure there is adequate (a minimum of 2ft, 60cm) of space around the room-air Inlet(s). This will allow the air-flow into the solar air heater collector box to be unimpeded and optimal.
